Palm Springs Project
This must be one of our favourite projects so far! This was a large renovation of an existing 1920’s Californian Bungalow home in Greenslopes.
The entire existing home was gutted to allow a complete reconfiguration and modernisation. A large extension was added to the rear of the home to allow more living space as well as excavation under the main floor level. This area was transformed into a complete self-contained living space and a gorgeous custom wine cellar.
KJK Interiors was engaged for interior and exterior design along with material selections. The old and new areas needed to flow seamlessly while working within the constraints of the existing Bungalow floorplan. The original character and details of the Bungalow were retained where possible to honour the history of the home. Another main consideration in the design was maximizing the amazing city view to the front of the home.
The entire front yard was transformed into the main pool/entertaining area which would capture the sweeping city views out to Mount Cootha and beyond. We designed the pool house incorporating breeze blocks, crazy pave and light tones to capture the Palm Springs vibe.
Design elements throughout the home include soft curves and arches, hand blown Soktas wall lights and feature pendants, calm and light toned colour palate, custom cabinetry, brass fittings and fixtures and a selection of complimentary feature tiles. All the elements brought together really capture the Palm Springs theme.
